Obituary for Karen E. Young

Karen E. Young nee Spitzbart, age 62, of McHenry, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born January 5, 1956 in Waukegan to Lloyd and Grace (Glosson) Spitzbart. On March 25, 1989, Karen married James B. Young at Chapel on the Hill in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

Karen was employed at Intermatic in Spring Grove, where she worked as an assembler for 35 years. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Spring Grove.

A devoted wife and mother, Karen’s family was her most important priority in life. She was a talented in cooking and baking, and found great enjoyment when she was able to feed her family and guests. She also loved to decorate cakes. An outgoing person, Karen would go out of her way to help others in whatever way she could.

Survivors include her husband of 28 years, James; two sons, William Young and Todd Young; a granddaughter, Alaya; two sisters, Judy (Ed) Boyer and Debbie (Steve) Robers; and a brother, Ronald (Lisa) Spitzbart.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 25, at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Spring Grove.
