Alfred Goebel Sr.

Alfred Goebel Sr., age 84, of McHenry and formerly of Johnsburg, died Friday, February 5, 2010, at his home.

He was born March 2, 1925 in Germany to Alfred and Magdalene (Rothmund) Goebel. On July 25, 1953, he married Marianne Michalek in Chicago.

Alfred came to the United States at the age of 26, moving first to Chicago and then residing for many years in Skokie. He was employed as a tool and die maker at Skokie Tools for over 30 years. He and his wife moved to Johnsburg, and most recently lived in McHenry.

He was a loving husband and father, and a doting grandfather. Enjoyments included the outdoors and taking walks.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marianne; four children, Christine (Joseph) Homesly of Chico, California, Susan Scott of McHenry, Barbara (Mike) Kaminsky of Cary, and Alfred (Janet) Goebel Jr. of McHenry; and six grandchildren, Vince, Douglas, Heather, Ashley, Lauren, and Brittany. He is also survived by three brothers, Reinhold (Hedwig) Goebel of Des Plaines, Max (Ruth) Goebel of Germany, and Otto (Magda) Goebel of Germany; and a sister, Gundi (the late Otto) Dankerl of Sun City, California; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, at the funeral home, with the Pastor Steve Yeschek officiating.

Interment will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park Cemetery, Crystal Lake.
