In Loving Memory Virginia Silverthorn 4/16/1920 - 2/20/2010

Virginia Silverthorn, age 89, of McHenry, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at her home in McHenry.

She was born April 16, 1920 in Chicago to Anton and Clare Mielczarek. On November 25, 1950, she married Wallace P. Silverthorn in Chicago.

A homemaker for the majority of her lifetime, Virginia enjoyed outdoor gardening, reading, and the Cubs. She loved the color pink, and enjoyed discussing politics with the best. A loving wife and mother, she treasured her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Wallace; five children, Dennis (Nancy) Beran of Bolingbrook, Donna (the late Ken) Penney of McHenry, Cynthia Karr of Largo, FL, Sandy Roney of Lake Geneva, WI, and Sharon Stephan of Largo, FL; 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and a brother, Melvin (Nancy) Mielczarek of Lake Geneva.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald; a sister, Alice Beran; and a brother, Norm Mielczarek.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Ringwood Cemetery, Ringwood.
