John Alan Carter, age 60, of Wonder Lake, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Milwaukee.

He was born October 9, 1949 in McHenry to John Joseph and Evelyn (Klusinski) Carter.

On June 10, 2006, he married Rev. Janie Long.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from 1968 to 1970.

John was employed at Terra Cotta as a supervisor in maintenance, and at Allied Barton in security.

He was an active member of the Wonder Lake Pentecostal Church of God, and worked with the Food Pantry and with his wife on the T.V. Ministry.

Enjoyments included walking, computers, and increasing his knowledge by being an avid reader.

Survivors include his wife, Rev. Janie Long-Carter of Wonder Lake; and a sister, Janice Carter of McHenry.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
