In Loving Memory Maggie Jane Smith 2/1/1942 - 7/16/2010

Maggie Jane Smith, age 68, of Fox Lake, died Friday, July 16, 2010, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

She was born February 1, 1942 in Palestine, Arkansas, to Oscar Lee and Dorothy Rebecca (Steele) Crowder.

Formerly an 18 year resident of Round Lake, she most recently resided in Fox Lake. A devout Christian, she was a member of the Full Gospel Church in McHenry. Maggie married John C. Smith in 1961, and he preceded her in death in 2008.

“Mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend, was loved by all.” Maggie’s family and friends were her treasure in life.

Survivors include five children, Deborah Smith of Antioch, John (Becky) Smith of Hazard, Kentucky, James (Nicky) Smith of Hazard, Kentucky, Katherine Smith of Mundelein, and Malissa (James) Alexander of Twin Lakes; 13 grandchildren, Travis (Nicole) Smith, Natasha Bautista, Chip Polwman, Kayla Smith, Zach Smith, Autumn Smith, Daniel Smith, Jacob Smith, Katie Davis, Christopher (Allison) Smith, Nichole Smith, Ashley Grieman, and James Alexander; six great grandchildren, Nathan, Carissa, Mya, Drew, Riley, and Christopher Smith; and ten siblings, Lee Crowder, Jean (Roy) Johnson, Bill (Cindy) Crowder, Lucy (Roger) Dewer, Betty (Dan) Pabis, Brenda (John Paul) Jones, Gary Crowder, Dorothy (John) Lee, Leatta Crowder, and Jimmy Crowder.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Justen’s Round Lake Funeral Home, 222 N. Rosedale Court, Round Lake, IL 60073. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at the funeral home, with Brother Harry Jarrett officiating.

Interment will be in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
