Paul Vrana

Paul Vrana, age 99, of Fox Lake, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Fountains of Crystal Lake.

He was born June 19, 1911 in Chicago to Paul and Elizabeth (Golosinec) Vrana.

A veteran of the U.S. Army he served during WWII in the South Pacific, New Guinea and Southern Philippines liberation.

He was a resident of Des Plaines moving to Arkansas with his wife in 1976 then returning back to Illinois in 2007 to be near his children.

Paul was employed as a traffic coordinator for Universal Oil Products of Des Plaines.

He was active with the Senior Citizen Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas, and regularly served meals there. He was also a member of the Czech Club in Mountain Home. He enjoyed square dancing, bowling and loved to tinker and fix things around his home. He also participated in Senior Olympics well into his 90's.

He is survived by his three children, Arlene (Ken) Metz of Algonquin, Carol (Robert) Pilz of Fox Lake, Paul Vrana III of Des Plaines; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a sister, Mildred (the late Elmer) Forster of Burbank.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rut,h in 1996; and his parents.

A memorial service is being planned for Saturday, August 14, 2010. at Justen Funeral Home, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050.

Cremation rites will be accorded to him privately.
